Banking

When living in Portugal, you will need a bank account to receive your salary, pay your bills, etc... Before doing it, please contact your Mobility Center or Local Contact Point to get assistance. Some Universities might have special agreements with specific banks.

• The list of Credit Institutions and Financial Companies in Portugal (Currency Exchange Bureau "Agências de Câmbio", Banks "Bancos", etc...)

Note that some portuguese banks charge bank account maintenance costs. 

• Documentation needed to open a bank account 

Different banks request different documentation but normally you will have to give proofs of identity (passport, fiscal number), address (evidence of address, household bills to check address, residence permit) and income (evidence of work contract, salary receipt).
