Description

The School of Economics at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England is keen to host a Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSCA) European Postdoctoral Fellowship and is encouraging applications to the 2025 Call.

MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship provides excellent financial compensation and research support for the best researcher, enabling them to move to an EU Member State or Horizon Europe Associated Country (of which the UK is one) for 12-24 months. The Call opened on 9 April 2025, and the submission deadline date is 10 September 2025.

We invite expressions of interest for applications within the following areas of research:

  • Corruption and Democratic Institutions. E.g: party financing and democratic processes; the effects of global democratic backslide on corruption; corruption and the rise of the far right.
  • Corruption and Sustainable Development. E.g: the closure of international aid programmes and corruption; combatting sexual corruption; corruption and violent conflict; corruption and climate resilience and food security; corruption and health.
  • Anticorruption reforms. E.g: the effectiveness of whistleblower protection legislation; the consequences of dismantling foreign bribery legislation such as FCPA on market competition. 

Research proposals may feature any of a range of methodologies: cross-country or region analysis, quasi-experimental designs (e.g difference-in-differences), field, lab or online experiments.

The School will provide support and guidance to develop one promising application that fits into one of the research areas listed above. All expressions of interest should meet the eligibility criteria of the scheme as well as the additional criteria for support by UEA. 

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for the MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship, applicants must hold a doctoral degree, and must have no more than eight years of full time research experience.  Applicants can be of any nationality but must not have resided or carried out the main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the proposal submission deadline.

 Additional criteria 

Applicants must have been awarded a doctoral degree from an accredited higher education institution, preferably in economics, international development, political science, international relations, psychology.

Applicants must have a track record - appropriate to career stage - of peer-reviewed publication(s) in internationally recognised outlets.

 1) A copy of your CV (following the MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship guidelines; maximum 5 pages).

2) A good quality outline draft of Part B-1 of the MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship application form, maximum 2 pages.

 3) Your contact details.

Selection Process

Expressions of interest will be assessed by a panel. The most promising applicant based on the relative strength of CVs and proposals in relation to the MSCA award criteria, will be provided with further guidance and support to submit a full MSCA European Postdoctoral Fellowship application to be hosted at UEA.
