The functions to be carried out focus on the development of scientifically based methodologies that allow for the definition of strategies to minimize the environmental impacts of products and services in which cement is an integral part. In this sense, it is necessary to promote a vision of the life cycle that naturally includes the production of cement, but focused on products that include cement in its composition, from its manufacture, through use and including its end of life, with a view to promote a circular economy.
These functions therefore require the combination of knowledge of life cycle assessment with knowledge and experience of developing products and services that use cement, as is the case with architecture and, in particular, the promotion of innovations that add value to the building , such as food production in buildings, solutions that reduce energy consumption and minimizing energy poverty.
These functions are thus focused on the development of a model for simulating the life cycle of products and services that include cement, with the objective of planning options that minimize, and desirably, cancel, their contribution to the emission of greenhouse gases.
