Offer Description
The Institute of Sports at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Media, and Sports invites applications for the position of
University Professor of Movement Science
to be filled at the earliest possible date.
Salary grade W 3 LBesG | Civil servant with unlimited tenure
Tasks and expectations:
We are looking for a leading researcher to represent the field of movement science in sports in both research and teaching. Candidates are expected to have an internationally recognized research profile in the fields of movement analysis, movement control, and movement learning, with a strong focus on practical applications and the potentional for collaboration. Experience in the field of biomechanical research methods is required.
Previous research experience in one or more of the following areas is desired:
- Data science
- Sensor-based motion analysis
- Smart health
- Motor imagery & learning
Areas of application may include competitive or high-performance sports (training and competition), recreational sports, school sports, or health promotion (primary prevention). Research approaches focused on diversity or a thematic emphasis on women and girls in sports are advantageous.
The professorship’s responsibilities include teaching the fundamentals of movement science, research methods, and applied concepts in all degree programs offered by the Institute of Sports.
The successful candidate is expected to teach in a didactically sound and committed manner, make active contributions to shaping the curriculum, and be willing to participate in academic self-administration and be involved in continuing education programs.

Requirements:
In addition to the general requirements according to public services law, applicants must meet the recruitment requirements stipulated in section 49 of the Hochschulgesetz of Rhineland-Palatinate.
Academic qualifications:
- Doctorate and habilitation, or academic achievements equivalent to a habilitation, in the expected research profile
- Outstanding research potential, demonstrated by publications and the acquisition of external funding
Teaching:
- Proof of teaching achievements and university-level teaching experience across a broad range of subjects within the field
- Ability and willingness to teach courses in English and German
