Offer Description

Come join IMT Mines Alès, a prestigious “grande école” ranked among the top engineering schools both nationally and globally, located in Alès—a welcoming, livable city and the capital of the Cévennes region, where residents highly value the quality of life.

Founded in 1843, IMT Mines Alès currently has 1,400 students (including 250 international students) and 380 staff members. The school has three high-level scientific and technological research and teaching centers, working in the fields of materials and civil engineering (C2MA), the environment and risk (CREER), and artificial intelligence and industrial and digital engineering (CERIS). It has 12 technology platforms and 1,600 partner companies. For more information: https://www.imt-mines-ales.fr

You will be based at the Mines Alès Materials Center (C2MA) at IMT Mines Alès and will be part of the UMR LMGC “Laboratory of Mechanics and Civil Engineering” research team.

As an Associate Professor at Institut Mines-Télécom, you will carry out teaching, research, and technology transfer duties.

Teaching Activities

  • Participate in teaching activities at the school within the Department of Civil Engineering and Sustainable Building (GCBD), in the Infrastructure and Major Structures (IGO), Building and Energy (BE), and Building (BAT), through lectures, seminars, lab sessions, project supervision, and student mentoring;
  • Teach courses in the fields of civil engineering, materials science, and structural analysis;
  • Deliver courses in English or develop active learning methods;
  • Participate in student admissions committees and in initiatives to promote the engineering program;
  • Lead a specialization track in the final year of study and propose research and development projects;
  • Teach a minimum of 150 hours per year.

Research Activities

  • Conduct research within the LMGC’s “Divided Media” research area;
  • Strengthen the research focus on low-carbon cementitious matrices, with regard to the macroscopic properties and durability of these materials, and bring together other researchers by linking this work to the modeling and mechanical aspects developed at the LMGC;
  • Focus on methods for the experimental characterization of the properties of cementitious materials in both the fresh and hardened states, particularly their microstructure, which requires knowledge of the physicochemistry of cementitious matrices and admixture technology;
  • Contribute to the collective management of the Civil Engineering platform.

Technology Commercialization and Transfer Activities

  • Identify and establish research contracts with industrial and academic partners, as well as draft grant proposals for public agencies or international programs;
  • Serve as the liaison with the contractual partner, oversee the scientific objectives defined in the project, lead a project team, and monitor the project’s progress, as well as manage related communications;
  • Develop an understanding of the process of commercially exploiting research results in order to contribute to cooperation between academic research, industrial research, and the production sectors;
  • Carry out, within your scientific and technical area of expertise, initiatives designed to support companies or the school’s incubator in order to promote the creation of spin-offs and the development of technology-based companies.
