The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure to fill an academic position of:
Assistant Professor specializing in Biophysics

Job description
- Provision of teaching in Bachelor’s and, where applicable, follow-up Master’s degree programs in the field of biophysics.
- Supervision and review of Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.
- Independent execution of scientific research tasks focused on the study of the structural and functional characteristics of membrane systems (particularly thylakoid membranes) and macromolecules.
- Development of experimental biophysical methods (especially optical spectroscopy techniques).
- Active publication activity in the field mentioned above.
- Collaboration within the research team and with international researchers.
- Active contribution to shaping the development strategy for the biophysics group's scientific research activities.

Qualification requirements – required
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D.), minimum of 5 years of research experience, English proficiency at B2 level.
- EU research level: R2 – Recognized.
- Ph.D. in biophysics or a related field.
- Research track record in biophysics or related fields (at least 10 publications in journals with an impact factor by the start date) demonstrating independence (at least 4 publications as first author) and current activity (at least 3 publications in journals with an impact factor within the last three years); alternatively, a proportionately higher number of outputs commensurate with the length of the candidate's research career.
- Basic experience in teaching undergraduate courses (at least 2 years of experience post-Ph.D.), particularly in biophysics; aptitude for teaching.
- Potential to develop research activities within the biophysics group at the Department of Physics.
- Ability to teach in Czech and communicate in English at a level appropriate for the position.
- Independence, reliability, and teamwork skills.

Information about the selection procedure
The first round of the selection process will involve the (internal) assessment of the applicants´ materials conducted by a selection committee, without the candidates being physically present.
Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in a second round of interviews.
The interview may consist of multiple rounds.
The employer reserves the right to extend, interrupt, or cancel the selection process, as well as to decide not to accept any of the candidates without stating the grounds for this decision.
