The Dean of the Faculty of Science of the University of Ostrava announces a selection procedure to fill an academic position of:
- Assistant Professor specializing in Biophysics and Molecular Biology

Job description
- Participation in teaching in bachelor's or master's degree programs (in the field of molecular biology and biophysics)
- Supervision and defense of bachelor's and master's theses (including possible involvement in the role of a consultant).
- Development and application of methods related to molecular biology (e.g. PCR, RT-qPCR, transcriptomic analyses) within research projects and other activities implemented at the Department of Physics.
- Implementation of independent research focused on the elucidation of molecular biological mechanisms related to the complex response of plants to (oxidative) stress.
- Active publication activity in the above-mentioned areas.
- Active contribution to shaping a concept for the development of scientific and research activities of the biophysics group (preparation of own project applications and participation in the preparation of joint project applications in coordination with other group members)
- Managing the agenda regarding work with genetically modified plants in the workplace.

Skills/Qualifications
Qualification requirements – required
- Completed Ph.D. in biophysics, molecular biology or related fields (no more than 10 years ago); min. 5 years research experience
- Active publication activity (min. h-index 9, min. number of publications 15)
- Advanced knowledge of molecular biology methods, including demonstrable practical experience in the field of experimental study of gene expression (PCR, RT-qPCR, transcriptome analysis), experience with "OMICs" data processing
- Demonstrable experience with an agenda related to working with genetically modified organisms (GMO plants)
- Experience in supervising bachelor's and master's theses and in teaching undergraduate courses
- Prerequisites for the development of research and teaching activities in the biophysics group of the Department of Physics (PřF, OU)
- Ability to teach in Czech and communicate in English at a level appropriate for the position; knowledge of English - at least B2 level
- Independence, reliability, ability to work in a team.

Information about the selection procedure
The first round of the selection process will involve the (internal) assessment of the applicants´ materials conducted by a selection committee, without the candidates being physically present.
Only selected applicants will be invited to take part in a second round of interviews.
The interview may consist of multiple rounds.
