Offer Description
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Scientist within UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy.
The Researcher will work in REALLOCATE project and perform other work activities while supporting the PI.
REALLOCATE's main objective is to pave the way towards climate-neutral, safe, inclusive and smart European cities through integrated and innovative sustainable urban mobility solutions that will address the needs of diverse groups and communities, while rebalancing street space allocation.
Pilot studies in 15 urban and periurban unsafe areas will demonstrate innovative urban space management and reallocation strategies for sustainable modes (with a specific focus on active modes), having in mind safety, inclusivity, affordability and a just transition to climate neutrality overall. Solutions include innovative urban design, behavioural nudging, smart technological and data-driven solutions to reduce actual and perceived road safety risks, all contributing to achieving climate neutrality by 2030.
Salary: €40,000 - €45,000 Per Annum
Appointment on the above range will be dependent upon qualifications and experience.

Additional Information
Mandatory:
*Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or other relevant disciplines is the minimum requirement.
*Expertise/interest in active mobility, street urbanism, and citizen engagement.
*Expertise and interest in urban design and planning.
*Experience of working in pan-European projects.
*Experience with publications, academic and for the wider public.
*Experience with research on streets and public spaces that has resulted in published outcome.
Desirable:
*PhD in urban planning, transport, engineering, geography, or other relevant disciplines.
*Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis.
*Experience in sustainable mobility intervention development and assessment.
*Knowledge of street-related research and citizen empowerment.
*Knowledge of nature-based solutions at the street and neighbourhood level.
*Able to conduct independent research.
