Kyoto University is currently seeking to fill a Professor position at the Applied Mechanics Laboratory.

[Work content and job description]
The Applied Mechanics Laboratory promotes fundamental research in continuum mechanics, specifically computational mechanics focusing on solids, fluids, and fluid-structure interaction. The research mission of this position is to conduct advanced research in computational fluid dynamics and fluid-structure interaction analysis, and to apply the results to various problems in hydraulic engineering and structural engineering. The educational mission of this position is to deliver English-language lectures within the International Course Program of Civil Engineering at the Undergraduate School of Civil, Environmental and Resources Engineering and the postgraduate level lectures in the Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering and the Department of Urban Management, Faculty of Engineering, Kyoto University.　The successful candidate will be required to deliver the following courses offered by the Faculty of Engineering in collaboration with other academic staff: “Hydraulics I and Exercises”, “Hydraulics II”, “Continuum Mechanics”, “River/Coastal Engineering”, and “Design for Infrastructure I”. In addition, the candidate will be required to deliver lectures “Thermodynamics” in the liberal arts and general education course and “Computational Fluid Dynamics” in the postgraduate course.
The research activities related to fluid mechanics within this laboratory are conducted in close collaboration with the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratories in the Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering and the Department of Urban Management. In the research and educational activities carried out by the International Course Program, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the management of school-related duties in cooperation with the Hydraulic Engineering Laboratories of both departments.
