The fellowship will be awarded under the following conditions:

Scientific area: Health Sciences, Biology or an equivalent field.

Eligibility requirements:

Only applicants meeting the following mandatory requirements will be considered:

• Applicants holding a Bachelor's or Master's degree in the scientific area described above
• Fluency in spoken and written Portuguese

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in molecular biology techniques, specifically nucleic acid extraction, PCR and Sanger sequencing.
• Strong organisational and project/laboratory management skills
• Good command of spoken and written English
• Strong interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills;
• Immediate availability

The fellowship allowance is €1,090.98 (one thousand and ninety euros and ninety-eight cents) for candidates holding a Bachelor’s degree or €1,359.64 (one thousand three hundred and fifty-nine euros and sixty-four cents) for candidates holding a Master’s degree, in accordance with the Research Fellowship Holder Statute, approved by Portuguese Law No. 123/2019 of 18 August, plus voluntary social security contributions or equivalent

Applicants may apply without prior enrolment in a course in the project area, in accordance with the fellowship requirements. Enrolment in a degree-awarding or non-degree-awarding course will be verified when the fellowship agreement is signed.

Applicants who do not meet the mandatory criteria will be excluded. Applicants who fail to submit academic qualification certificates will also be excluded.

The assessment will focus on academic and professional experience in the areas listed above and will comprise two stages. First, the applicant's CV and motivation letter will be assessed. Applicants obtaining a score of at least 12 points on a scale of 0 to 20 in this first assessment will subsequently be invited to an interview to assess their knowledge and skills. The final score will be weighted as follows: 40% for the curriculum assessment and 60% for the interview.

Applicants will be ranked, and the applicant with the highest score will be selected. Should the first-ranked applicant decline the fellowship, the second-ranked applicant will be selected, and so on, according to the ranking established by the Selection Committee. However, the Committee reserves the right to determine that none of the applicants meets the minimum criteria for the position, in which case a new recruitment procedure will be opened.

Work plan:
•    Database management and organisation of clinical records
•    Management of the biological sample biobank, including nucleic acid extraction
•    Genetic diagnosis of inherited dyslipidaemias, namely Familial Hypercholesterolaemia, in the context of family studies and variant co-segregation analyses
•    Management and procurement of laboratory materials and reagents
•    Preparation of reports, calls for applications, purchase requests and minutes for the project's internal procedures
•    Collaboration in the preparation and drafting of reports, abstracts and scientific articles for the communication of results at scientific meetings, as well as in project dissemination activities.
