Offer Description
The Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology is looking to strengthen and expand research at theinterface of chemistry, materials science and pharmaceutical science.
The person to be appointed will have an established international reputation in synthetic organic chemistry, particularly in the development of synthetic methods in organic chemistry. The successful candidate is expected to contribute to Saarland University’s core research fields in materials science and/or the biochemical, pharmaceutical and medical sciences. In addition to strengthening the university’s strategic priorities and research networks in these areas, the research conducted by the appointee will align with the existing collaborative alliances in the field of drug discovery and development (Saarland University’s Excellence Strategy and PharmaScienceHub) and/or the Research Training Group 3082 ‘Engineering CovalentBonds in Molecules and Materials’). We expect the successful candidate to have established an independent research group in an area of current relevance in organic synthetic chemistry, whose work is supported by external research funding. The person appointed will also have proven experience in teaching organic chemistry at university level. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to teaching across the organic chemistry curriculum in both the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in chemistry.

The appointee must have authored original publications in high-impact chemistry journals, have proven success in acquiring external research funding and must have an established international profile and strong record of research. The person appointed is also expected to engage with collaborative research networks within the Department of Chemistry, such as Excellence Initiatives, the Research Training Group 3082 and the PharmaScienceHub.
The appointment will be made in accordance with the general provisions of German public sector employment law (see legal recruitment requirements in § 41 Saarländisches Hochschulgesetz, current version available at https://recht.saarland.de/bssl/document/jlr-HSchulGSLrahmen).
