There is hereby announced that, by order of the Rector of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa, Professor João Sàágua, dated 02/12/2025, a recruitment procedure is open for the hiring of a Senior Technician for the funding of LISBOA2030-FEDER-01317200 - Hub de Inovação Pré-clínica-para-Clínica da NOVA Medical School (HubP2C) project, to be executed at NOVA Medical School | Faculty of Medical Sciences, Universidade NOVA de Lisboa under an Indefinite Individual Employment Contract, in accordance with the Labor Code and the Regulations of the leaders of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (Regulation no. 577/2017, of October 31, published in the Diário da República, 2nd Series, no. 210, of October 31), hereinafter referred to as the Regulation.

  1. Workplace:

     

    Research Hub of NOVA Medical School (NMS | FCM) of the NOVA University Lisbon (UNL), located at Rua Câmara Pestana, n.ºs 6, 6-A e 6-B, 1150-082 Lisbon, Portugal.

  2. Job Description:

 

The candidates will be involved in:

  • Provide training and support to users on the imaging and microscopy platform systems, including wide-field, confocal, and advanced optical sectioning techniques;
  • Assist researchers with image acquisition, experimental design, and troubleshooting;
  • Support users in visualizing, analyzing, and processing 2D and 3D images, including fluorescence microscopy data and CT/PET imaging data;
  • Perform daily maintenance of the imaging and microscopy platform;
  • Assist in organizing microscopy courses and workshops;
  • Conduct routine maintenance, service, and quality control of microscopy systems to ensure optimal performance.

 

  1. General Admission Requirements (Academic Qualifications):
  2. Specific Requirements:

 

The candidates should have a Bachelor and/ or Master degree in the areas of Physics, Biology, Engineering or related subjects.

 

 

Candidates must have:

  • Experience in Microscopy (widefield and optical sectioning, such as confocal, multiphoton, or light-sheet);
  • Experience in image analysis tools (e.g., ImageJ) and quantification of microscopy data, both in 2D and 3D.

 

  1. Preferential Requirements:

 

  • Experience in the analysis of CT/PET imaging data;
  • Experience in programming/data analysis;
  • Experience with Machine / Deep Learning Algorithms; ‎   
  • Good communication skills, collaborative attitude, and service-oriented team player;
  • Sense of organization, initiative, strong commitment, working ethics, and rigor;
  • Previous experience in user training and support will be valued, but is not mandatory;
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

The selection will be based on Curriculum Evaluation (CE) and may be supplemented by a Professional Selection Interview (PSI), if deemed necessary by the Selection Committee.

 

The final classification will be expressed on a scale of 0 to 20 points and results from the following formula: Final Classification = (30% CE) + (70% PSI)

 

The evaluation parameters and the weighting of the selection methods are noted in the minutes of the selection committee meeting, available to candidates upon request.
