Offer Description
There is an open competition for the attribution of a Research Grant for Graduates within the scope of the DRIVOLUTION project, with reference C632394276-00466981 and with the title DRIVOLUTION - Transition to the factory of the future, financed through the RRP - Recovery and Resilience Plan and by the European Funds Next Generation EU, following NOTICE No. 2022-C05i0101-02 - Mobilizing Agendas/Alliances for reindustrialization, under the following conditions:

2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates who meet the following requirements may apply for this grant:
- Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Attend, even partially, the Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Have a minimum average of 12.0 (not rounded) in the curricular units already attended in the Master's Degree;
- Have proven fluency in spoken and written English;
- Have laboratory experience;
- Be available to travel and contact potential suppliers;
- Have international experience (ERASMUS) (preferably).;
If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August, 16th, and any formalities established therein must be complied with until the contracting act.
3. DURATION
The Research Grant last for 6 months, with probable start in February 2025, eventually being renewed for equal periods, according to the project's objectives and its budget, up to the limit established in the legislation, to be held on an exclusive basis, according to the regulation of advanced training of human resources of the Foundation for Science and Technology and ISEP.
4. OBJECT OF ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN
Development of laboratory experiments with a view to testing and analyzing the wear of cutting tools provided with coatings made by PVD in Milling operations in a CNC Machining Center equipped with a dynamometer for measuring cutting forces.
5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS
Research Scholarship Holder Statute, approved by Law No. 40/2004, of August, 18th; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation no. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of the Diário da República, of December 16th, 2019, Regulation of Research Grants of ISEP, Decree-Law no. 66/2018, published in Diário da República no. 157/2018, Series I of August 16th, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by institutions higher education institutions and Decree-Law No. 60/2018, of 3 August, which simplifies the administrative procedures necessary for the pursuit of research and development activities, all in their current wording.
6. SCIENTIFIC SUPERVISION AND WORKPLACE
The work will be carried out at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto, under the scientific guidance of Professor Francisco José Gomes da Silva.
7. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
Grant value: 1 040.98€, monthly paid by bank transfer (according to the values established by FCT (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.p… ), supported by PAD No. C66857.
8. SELECTION METHODS AND JURY COMPOSITION
The selection will be made taking into account the following components: 60% for curriculum evaluation (25% Curriculum, 15% Scientific domains and 20% Experience) and 40% Interview. Only candidates who obtain at least 70% in the curriculum evaluation will be called for the interview.
• Preference will be given to candidates who have acquired knowledge in the area of materials and manufacturing processes, from curricular units such as Manufacturing Processes 1, Manufacturing Processes 2, Metallic Materials, Non-Metallic Materials, Composite Materials, Material Selection and Connection Processes, fundamental contents for the development of this project.
• Preference will be given to those who master the English language, in spoken and written terms;
• Preference will be given to those who show willingness to travel and give presentations at international conferences;
• Preference will be given to those who demonstrate an appetite for laboratory activities.
The interview will take into account the specific knowledge relevant to the execution of the work plan to be developed, the ability to communicate and interpersonal relationships and the oral command of the Portuguese and English languages.
The jury responsible for the selection process will consist of:
Professor Doctor, Francisco José Gomes da Silva (responsible for the project at ISEP) (President);
Doctor, Raul Duarte Salgueiral Gomes Campilho (Vowel);
Doctor, Arnaldo Manuel Guedes Pinto (Vowel);
and as an alternate member, Doctor Isabel Mendes Pinto (Alternate Vowel).
9. FORM OF PRESENTATION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by email sent to fgs@isep.ipp.pt, by sending the following documents:
Letter of motivation indicating the reference “DRIVOLUTION/BL/01/2025”;
Detailed Curriculum Vitae of the candidate;
Certificate of qualifications / Document proving ownership of the academic degree and diploma, of the respective recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions or document proving the application for recognition;
Proof of enrollment in study cycles that confer or do not confer an academic degree;
Other supporting documents deemed relevant.
If the qualification has been conferred by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decree-Law No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the hiring act.
10. DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING APPLICATIONS
The reception of applications takes place from 14/03/2025 to 27/03/2025.
11. FORM OF PUBLICITATION/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
The evaluation results will be communicated via email, to the email address indicated in the application process.
12. COMPLAINT AND APPLICATION PROCEDURES
If the result is unfavorable, candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the publication of the results of the application evaluation, to comment, if they wish, at a prior hearing of interested parties, under the terms set out in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
A hierarchical appeal may be lodged against the final decision referred to in the previous paragraphs, to the President of ISEP, within 15 working days after the respective notification
13. SELECTION RESERVE
ISEP reserves the right to resort to non-selected candidates, in order of ranking, to hire a scholarship holder within the scope of the same project due to the withdrawal of the initially selected candidate.
