The research activity lies within the general framework of risk mitigation associated with various types of landslides both in soil and rock, from landslides to collapses. In particular, the research will be dedicated to the evaluation of the actions carried out on the impact of the landslide phenomenon with defense structures and works. The research is also aimed at the design and optimization of defense works - such as tunnels, rockfall protection and embankments - taking into consideration the introduction of structural elements and geosynthetics. For this purpose, numerical models capable of reproducing conditions of large displacements will be used, such as those based on particle methods (Distinct Elements), meshless methods (such as Material Point, Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) or coupled methods (Distinct / Finite Elements).THIS PROPOSAL IS CONSISTENT WITH THE TOPICS 5.3.2. SAFETY OF NATURAL SYSTEMS OF PNR.
